GIVEAWAY: Portraits For Keeps with Kids Pictures

EDIT 13.01.17: Congratulations Grace Ng! You have won your daughter a studio photography shoot!

I am the chief photographer of my household. The mom who naturally assumes the role of capturing precious moments because she cannot bear to forget those cute little button noses. With her always behind the lens, it is not often she is part of many pictures.

Now. I need to update my Facebook Cover and Profile Picture for the New Year.

And the only way to get that through is to be the subject for once. Yay! I got to dress up a little like Finally! On a regular day, it's just bare-faced tired me. Who cares if I looked drop dead gorgeous when I picked the kids from school or go into the grocery store? When I went out all dolled up that day, the husband asked, "Oh you not going to wear the Housewife Mom clothes, mom?" Tsk of course not right? Family pictures for the brand new year, duh!

Then again, seems like a good idea no? We should do a dishevelled, out of bed kind of family shoot the next round. Just to #KeepItReal. *haha* Tell me you'd like to see that.

On the location set, I chose to go Chong Wen Ge Cafe at Telok Ayer Street for the shoot. It is a beautiful space with everything so traditionally quaint. A little bit of Peranakan, a little bit of Chinese. Oh if you ever go, please take some time to go to Level Two where the toilets are located. It's charming up there! It really were the Blues that attracted me in the first place.

Moving on, we took a quick visit to Thian Hock Keng temple [which is just next door]. I absolutely love the detailing in there. Built in 1839, it is one of the oldest Hokkien temple in Singapore designed in traditional Southern Chinese architectural style. Can you believe that this entire structure was assembled without nails? Today, it is a national monument. Where better to capture memories that will remain etched in the minds of all who witnessed them?

I chose to dress the children in Sea Apple's On A Clear Day collection. You would have known by now how big a fan I am of Sea Apple. I cannot believe it was only a year ago since Su Mei spoke to me about launching her first Chinese New Year collection for 2016. Today, Sea Apple is doing so well that On A Clear Day is stocked in Motherswork and Mothercare! I did not hesitate to market her dresses by having Faye model for her clothes in 2016 and I will not stop to think if we should in 2017. As long as Su Mei puts clothes on the shelf, I will be her Number One fan. Her designs keep to clean, architectural silhouettes and subtle detailing that is so tasteful I cannot resist. Using only top quality fabrics from Liberty of London, Spain and Japan, I find value in my money spent. Best of all, she made clothes for boys this Chinese New Year! Bonus!

In total, we had three different settings for our family shoot! After Thian Hock Keng temple, we spent some time in the park next to it with more family photos. I must say the children were rather cooperative. We wrapped up the session in 40 minutes with so many pictures for keeps!

Then Willy surprised me by saying he needed a photo of Meyer and I. Oh thank you very much Willy because I was so focused on getting the children in the pictures, it did not cross my mind that their parents should take one without the littles as well! At that moment when Willy told my cheeky husband to give me a kiss, a beautiful flashback came rushing through. I felt like we were shooting pre-wedding photos again! I wished I had a camera phone with me because looking at us were our photographer and our two mini mes. It was such a cute sight if you can imagine.

I won a photography session with Willy Foo in a contest last Chinese New Year hosted by Actualyse but it was only last week that we managed to carve time out as a family for this session. Willy Foo is the owner of Livestudios and takes on photography jobs only on request with a package of S$2000 per session at Kids Pictures. What a privilege for our family to have him shoot us last week. We would not have been able to engage him for a family shoot otherwise!

Here we are, passing on our good fortune to you. Kids Pictures has kindly agreed to collaborate with us to bring you Portraits For Keeps!
