Heguru manages the single largest right brain development school in Japan with students from Tokyo and 25 other prefectures. Through over 30 years, they have developed an educational programme, which includes an extensive 86 categories of courses, spanning from pre-natal to senior high school years. HEGL’s vision is for parents to enjoy raising their children and to assist parents to develop and harness their children’s innate potential. HEGL hopes to develop children to become future great leaders and be able to make a meaningful contribution to society.

Ewan (3 years old) and Faye (16 months old) are enrolled with Heguru. I had always endorsed in exercising the right brain but not the Shichida or Heguru way of training. A visit to Heguru one Sunday morning turned me from a shunner to a follower. You've got to know that the children enjoyed their sessions a lot and they were the reasons why we ended up becoming students of Heguru.

Sports4Kids classes offer secure and non-competitive environments for learning sports, with the main emphasis on skill development and having FUN. Their philosophy is to teach through encouragement and praise, to enhance each child’s self-esteem while also supporting their development and sports education.

Ewan gate-crashed into Sport4Kids class when he was at the The Cage at Turf City for another class. He loves the football so much that he refused to leave. We had to sign him up for a weekly session.

The name “Chengzhu” comes from the Chinese idiom “xiong you cheng zhu” (to have an image of bamboo in one’s mind), which illustrates the confidence that good preparation can bring when taking on new challenges. The word “cheng” also signifies growth. “Chengzhu” was chosen because they aim to help their learners develop the tenacity and strength exemplified by bamboo.

We had Ewan enrolled for Mandarin PlayNest and Billingual PlayClub. He will be attending the Pre-School Programmes while Faye will be joining them for Mandarin PlayNest in 2015. Follow us to see if how much Faye will be enjoying her sessions and if Ewan will be joining the Cultural Arts, Language Learners or Little Pandas programme.

My Gym has developed an extraordinary program and facilities devised to help children 4 months thru 10 years of age develop physically, cognitively and emotionally. They have over 300 locations in more than 30 countries offering structured, age-appropriate, weekly classes that incorporate music, dance, relays, games, special rides, gymnastics, sports and more.

We had Ewan and Faye enrolled in My Gym Rochester Mall when they turned 6 months old. It was a great way to encourage skill acquisition, confidence and positive self-image. We saw them took to separation anxiety very well and was extremely proud of their achievements. Seeing older children crawling, climbing and toddling definitely edged them on to trying them out.

Kindermusik has been enriching lives with the most carefully researched, developmentally based music program. From birth to age 7, children can experience the magic of music without the pressure to perform – just the encouragement and guidance to stretch their boundaries with creativity and fun!

We went for a trial at Rochester Mall and Ewan had great fun banging on the instruments. We did not sign up with them because he was with ChengZhu at the same time and their PlayNest programme does enrich him with music and as well.

Growing Up Gifted is a premium preschool and kindergarten developed by Curriculum Specialists (USA) in both Gifted Education and Early Childhood Education. They offer pre-nursery, enrichment and kindergarten programmes to all children from ages 8 months to 6 years. Our programmes adopt progressive teaching techniques and learning methodologies employed by leading gifted preschools in the United States.

We had Ewan in for a trial in the Gifted Babes programme when he was 6 months old. I am not a fan of whiteboard learning and card-flashing at such a tender age so we did not return again. Learning through play is more my cup of tea.
