HappyTee by Urban Li'l
As everyone should know by now, I had been working with Urban Li'l ever since they started business with personalised wooden plaques. I believe our very first plaque was "Hakuna Matata" for Faye's teepee tent. Her second year old ice-cream birthday party tent. Then we had cake toppers, English and Chinese family plaques, Faye's house bed and now, HappyTee, all beautifully and professionally delivered by Rachel.
She doesn't know I am going to write this so this is going to be a Happy Surprise! I am sharing this on a blog post because HappyTee is not only a space created to promote creativity [they turn children's art into tees and rompers], it is also for charity. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Happy People Helping People [HPHP], a Non Profit Organisation.
HPHP aims to help independently-surviving elderly in Singapore who are struggling to make ends meet, particularly the carton collectors. For each Tee sale, $10 (equivalent to one old person carrying 100 kg of cardboard at $0.10/kg) will be donated to these elderly on HAPPY SUNDAYS (first Sunday of the month) to fund their daily meals, bills, and other needs.
Here's sharing what goes on on HAPPY SUNDAYS:
The next HAPPY SUNDAY is on 5th August 2018. Ten teams will go out to 6 locations in Singapore namely Ang Mo Kio, Jalan Besar, Toa Payoh, Chinatown, Geylang and Bedok to distribute food and red packets to elderlies. They are currently recruiting for volunteers to fill up teams that are still requiring manpower assistance. Details here for 5th August 2018 HAPPY SUNDAYS drive if you are looking to do something meaningful with the family.
Now back to HappyTee.
HappyTee will be launching today at 2100 hours and you would be glad to know that Rachel is personally handing over the proceeds earned from all HappyTee sales in October 2018's HAPPY SUNDAYS. If you are a customer and would love to be part of HAPPY SUNDAYS for the October drive, do let Rachel know! We could form a HappyTee team wearing all our Happy Tees!

Rachel turned Ewan and Faye's drawings from Da Little Arts School into every day wearable tees. They were ecstatic to see their arts on tees and I was of course full of pride. You know if you like what my children had done, you could purchase them too? Faye's tee is perfect for this National Day!
SINGAPORE!
I integrated two of her artworks into one for this tee because I wanted something patriotic for Singapore's 53rd birthday this year. She chose her own colours and wrote her A to Z on a drawing paper. I then picked out S.I.N.G.A.P.O.R.E from her list and designed this piece with her Merlion on it. Sent it to Rachel and wa la! We've got it transferred to a tee!
I enjoy the designing part and so I put the artwork together for Rachel but of course if you are not technically equipped, HappyTee will take over all designing and placement of your child's artwork. A preview will be sent to you prior to printing.

Ewan's husky is a real work of art. It was a Chinese New Year art piece that the Master Class kids from Da Little Arts School had to put together. Because it is the Year of the Dog, these little artists were given ideas of different breeds to consider drawing. Ewan chose the husky to draw and it looks handsome as a HappyTee.
I like things unconventional and checked if it was alright to print it a way that is slightly different from a regular small breast logo print, a large centralised print or repeated print. Good news is, your child's artwork can go on the front, back and anywhere you'd like it to be as long as it is within the tee!
Since this was a two-faced dog using different mediums to create, I thought a split it the middle on the front and back of the tee might look really stylish! I submitted my artwork to her [with a child model I grabbed from google] and surprisingly, she said "Yes! Can do!"
Purchase Ewan's Husky Tee Design
Each customised tee priced from S$35 onwards depending on the print colour you choose.
There are also bundle deals each family can consider when purchasing customised tees from HappyTee:
- Bundle A (2 adults + 1 kid) $95
- Bundle B (2 adults + 2 kids) $122
- Bundle C (2 adults + 3 kids) $150
These bundles are priced cheaper than purchasing each tee on its own but the charity part of it remains - S$10 strictly for every tee sold.
Moms, dads and children can also purchase the Kindness series tees too which and they are available in rainbow colours. These ones will go at S$32 per tee.
How did HappyTee came about? It was coined when Tjin Lee posted a photo of her son, Jake’s drawing of a whale and Urban Li'l proposed to help to turn it into a tee for him for keepsake. They thought it’ll be great to use this idea to run a charity campaign to help the elderly in Singapore through Happy People Helping People and that's how it all started.
Take this chance to educate our young about giving back to society and encourage them to do their part. I read a chapter on "Acts of Services" yesterday from "The 5 Love Languages of Your Family".

Take this chance to educate our young about giving back to society and encourage them to do their part. I read a chapter on "Acts of Services" yesterday from "The 5 Love Languages of Your Family".
"As children live with the example of parents who serve family and those beyond the walls of their home, they too will learn to serve. When you give a luncheon of dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbours; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. This is what we want for our children - to be able to perform acts of service with compassion and genuine love. But our children are immature. They are naturally self-centred and cannot be expected to serve others with selfless motivation."

And with this in mind, we teach them how.
