#DurianMoms #PokemonTrainerMoms #SporeMomBloggers #MeTime

It is three minutes before the clock strikes 12 midnight as I write this. Why are moms always up so late? It is because when the laughter, cries and tantrums finally come to a temporary halt, it is time for us to WAKE UP!

From the time the day breaks in Singapore [0700 hours] until the rascals go to bed, we are always busy running after them and making memories together. Please stop judging SAHMs for being very eng [Hokkien dialect for Free] okay? Even though I have the weekday mornings free while the kids go to school, there are still a tonne of things to strike off on the to-do list. And I'm really not talking about

Movie
Massage
Manicure

Now. So when do we sleep? When we are done socialising.

What is socialising like for SAHMs or really just All Kinds of Moms? It is Instagram, Facebook, WhastApp and Twitters. We read news off Facebook Feeds [faster than print okay] and catch up on the latest gossips on WhatsApp [amongst moms]. Frankly, we clock very little sleep. Moms cannot bear to sleep at night and we cannot get out butts out of our beds the next day. Alright.. I'm generalising. Maybe it's just me but if you are THIS mom, please do drop me a line of encouragement?

A late Saturday night WhatsApp sharing session on disciplinary methods and disrespectful behaviours in our kids took a sudden change in line when we brought up the topic D.U.R.I.A.N.S. It suddenly dawned on us that our children were all asleep and we are hmmmm actually free! We can in fact, come out for a quick durian rendezvous without putting our husbands at risk of "difficult" children. I bracketed the word Difficult because well, their definition of difficult is definitely very different from ours.

We did a quick check with our hubbies asking oh-so-sweetly if they could hold the [sleeping] fort while we go for a quick bite into some bitter and creamy 猫山王. Before we know it, we drove like F1 drivers to our meeting ground, excited to share some good company for the night.

When I reached the carpark at Highland Center, I received a text from the hubby. A quick glance and I got a shock! An incident happened at home already even before I met my friends?

"I lost the son!"

What? My husband lost our son!?

Then I opened the message which included a picture in it. It read, "Tot I lost your Son. He went up to sleep with meimei???" *hahahha* Phew!

I got to proceed with my mom blogger midnight escape after all.

It doesn't matter what we talked about. The experience was liberating. Are we really doing this? Out at midnight without pesky imps? And we are Mothers? Oh... it goes to show how much time we had been dedicating to this family of ours. How impossible it is to be anywhere else, alone. Yes it is true that we really do not get private time even in the bathroom at home you know?

"Oh wait! You are all Pokemon trainers too?" Woo Hoo! I actually downloaded it because I wanted to see what's the hype about. A week had past and I was ready to hit the delete button on the Pokemon Go icon because frankly, I do not know what I am doing. Who would have known, we've got a Pokemon Guru amongst us! A quick tip-and-trick run down and hey! This could be fun! Although my husband is terribly embarrassed by me if we were [I was] seen catching a Pokemon on the Go.

So there. We sleep little, yearn for real socialisation outside social media, need a break from the kids and love durians.

Thank you for your spontaneity Amazingly Still, Bumble Bee Mum and So.Natty. It was a night to remember and I had a lot of fun even though my children really did wake at 0700 hours as usual. *yawns* With only four hours of sleep the whole day, why am I still up at 0100 hours?

Because, #MeTime.
