It's Playtime Once More

When I was young, I'd be on my best behaviour whenever my parents said, "We will go to the playground if you ..." Oh man! I'd do anything to head down to the playground and the playgrounds in our time were sand-pitted! I could build sand castles, bury my feet in it and ride down mosaic-tiled elephant trunks!

We found out that Marina Square's Central Atrium is running a nostalgic play area for 13 days but we were so packed on schedule, we managed to visit only today! Even if the children didn't want to go, I do! Just for the sake of rekindling some childhood memories for mommy me. They had the usual Pelican, Dragon, Elephant and Watermelon structures at the atrium where we can play in without breaking a bead of perspiration. However, the Dragon cannot be played on - no slides nor steps to climb - so I ended up getting the kids swing on the bars like monkeys. 1970s and 1980s kids will be ecstatic to find activities like Pick Up Sticks, Five Stones, Chapteh and Hopscotch on site as well!

Just so you know, if you want pictures with no one in your background, arrive at 1000 hours but the activities (Five Stones and friends) will not be open for play. So if you'd like to enjoy everything at one go, head down a little after lunchtime.

"It's Playtime Once More" will end on 28th of June 2015. 2 more days to closing!

Walk towards MacDonald's stretch of shops and you will find a large "We Love SG" Badge Board, a SBC Tele Screen and a Trishaw. Share your best pictures on instagram and stand to win one of 5 sets of 42" TV with the hashtag #marinasquarecelebratesSG50! There will also be ten $50 dining vouchers for consolation prizes. Note: Only the SBC television or Trishaw pictures will stand to win prizes ya? This photo contest ends on 26th of July 2015.

See this boy paisay that he's a complain king *haha*

If you'd like to hunt down the last few heritage playgrounds in Singapore, feel free to read more about them (map and addresses included) here - This Used To Be My Playground. We brought the kids on a playground hunt playdate early this year.
