The Making of #mmlittle家 - Save 70% Off Retail When Buying Blinds Online

Ready made curtains are cheaper but they hardly fit well. Custom-made ones would cost an arm and leg. I know because we spent a lot for #mmlittle家's 4.3 metre high ceiling space. Just imagine us doubling our expenditure with that!

We turned to ShadeSpace, an online shopping platform for blinds in our kitchen. They cut down a lot  [dollars and cents] in between because there is no brick and mortar store which also cuts down on overheads.

One more reason why the savings can be much lower: We measured the window, ordered online and fixed it up on our own. Surprisingly, it wasn't that difficult! Meyer got our kitchen blinds up in 30 minutes by just drilling in a few screws and attaching the customised blinds [based on your own measurements] onto the brackets in just five easy steps:

However, how are we to ensure we've got the measurements right?

There is a MEASURE + INSTALLATION instructions on the website which will guide you step-by-step on how different types of blinds like Aluminium Venetian Blinds, Roman Shades or even Vertical Blinds should be measured and installed.

We have chosen PVC Venetian Blinds for our kitchen and the instructions for measurement are rather simple - depending on whether you choose to mount the blinds inside or outside the wooden frame.

If you are still not feeling confident despite the installation guides and prefer to get an installer to do the work, you can call a professional installer in for the job.

I thoroughly enjoyed my shopping experience on ShadeSpace's website. I get to select and browse Fabric Collections against selected wall colours to visualise on the possibility of choosing certain colours for our home. There is also an option to choose if we wanted the control of the blinds fixed to the left of right side of the product!

One of the biggest concerns I had was the colour of the actual product. Will it turn out the way it looks on the computer?

A quick chat on the online customer support [web chat] on the website itself, I felt assured that ShadeSpace will not disappoint! They offer to mail up to 3 Cut Out Samples (Swatches) for FREE! I got to feel the texture, check the opacity and put it against the window to match it with the wall.

We added a 1" decorative tape to our blinds in the kitchen just for aesthetic reasons and that added up to our total bill. Our 150cm x 115cm wet kitchen window came up to S$251.25. If we opted out of the decorative tape, it would have cost S$234.00. A mere S$17 difference.

Here is sharing how the blinds looked like through the visualiser and actual product when being mounted.

We received our blinds within two weeks from order confirmation. Although the website did mention that it may take up to three weeks to arrive should the product be on back order. Peak seasons such as Christmas and Chinese New Year.

We had a very pleasant experience with ShadeSpace who is revolutionising the way Singaporeans shop for Curtains and Blinds. Forget the traditional method of heading all the way to a shop and trying to imagine how the curtains will look like in your home. They are bringing the much anticipated Digital Era into an industry that has been virtually left untouched.
