The IKEA Store, Now Online
We have moved into #mmlittle家 and it is without doubt that IKEA makes a part of our home. Although the husband's back for good from flying, he is still pretty much "away at work" from 0900 to 1700 hours. My duties as chauffeur, home renovations coordinator, stylist, personal shopper, cleaner, disciplinarian, mom and wife still remains. Not to mention I only have the first part of the day to get everything sorted out before Ewan and Faye returns from school.
It is perfect timing [I have to count my blessings] that IKEA launched the Online Shopping feature during my move! Although the store is really near me, my days were always packed with meeting electricians, movers, contractors and painters. I did not have the luxury of time to shop the aisles at IKEA.
However, with IKEA now online, I could shop in the comfort of my home! How fast was the delivery you ask? Two days!
The online shopping had been hassle-free! The only downside is the S$70 delivery fee which can be hefty compared to shopping at the store which "delivery-free". However, this arrangement is perfect for me when everything I needed would have been too heavy to bring home on my own!
To make it sweeter, IKEA offer Assembly services at 15% of product price upon delivery! If you enjoy fixing and tinkering, opt out the assembly service to save money. I really wasn't keen to spend more time [which I have so little of] putting a chair together and so the assembly service was God-sent in my opinion!
Here's how simple shopping online is in just 5 steps:
Payment can only be made with VISA, Mastercard, Amex or Enet. No shopping vouchers can be used at this moment and I hope they would include Apply Pay or Paypal for fuss-free check-outs in the near future. For now, I have to get my wallet, remove my credit card and enter the numbers. Ahhh.. It's not too big an issue but of course, Paypal would have been easier with just a click!
This would be exactly how I'd look if I went shopping at the Store! I tried putting together all that I would have bagged away from online shopping and it was VERY HEAVY! I wouldn't be able to manage it on my own really.
Here's sharing some of the corners in our new home, #mmlittle家, that we've planted IKEA in.
1. EKET Cabinet with 4 compartments in light grey. I chose the 70x25x70cm version of the EKET at S$80 and it fits perfectly into Ewan's wardrobe! The depth [25cm although there is also a 30cm version for S$5 more] is thick enough to fit a little boy's tees and shorts. It comes in seven colours and I'm so happy to find a colour that is similar to our wardrobe, looking as if it was built in!
2. MOSSEBO Frame in size 50x70cm at S$15.90. The beauty of IKEA is its price point. I do not have to spend a bomb for a beautiful frame for our family photo! Now I cannot decide whether I should have this hanged, leaned against the wall or put it on a picture ledge.
3. MOSSLANDA Picture Ledge, 115cm at S$12.90. We have used these ledges as book shelves in our previous home and they work so well displaying the children's picture books that I had to get them again for Faye's loft. It is still work in progress but here's a sneak peak of her library three meters from the ground!
4. FLISAT Book Display is perfect for loaned books, either from the public library or school, that need to be returned. Like you know? Just put all the loaned books in one place already and don't let them go missing! The brown wood doesn't match Ewan's or Faye's room and so, I did a little hack yesterday evening when the kids were napping. Using Nippon's Boderlec 900, a wood and metal paint in high gloss, I transformed this book display with much ease!
5. TEJN Rug sits beautifully under Faye's clothe rack and because of its soft wooly texture, I find her sitting on it with her books every day. I'm just glad she has no sensitive airways or eczema to welcome this rug into her bedroom. How much is this you ask? Only S$19.90!
There are a lot more that we haven't put up but do wait up for that House Tour!

But this sight if I were to just shop on my laptop? Easy!
And very much welcomed.
