1. Voice Control Through Siri

In a hurry to get the children out of the house every morning for school, often times we tend to forget to switch off lights. The realisation strikes us when we are back home later in the day. 4. Creation of Time-Based Schedules 

KIDS' ROOM: Every morning, I wake Ewan and Faye up for school together with Gypsie. She will enter their room and lick them awake along with my “Wakie Wakie! Time to wake up!” Now, I’ve included a Turn Light On function on school mornings to add to the wake-up call at 6.15am. Blessed because I can sleep in another 5 minutes but the lights in the kids' room would have woken them up on time. 

BREAKFAST SCENE: This is daddy's light function for school mornings which he set for himself as he gets ready for the day and into the kitchen to prep food for the children. In his words, "When I wake up and head to the toilet to brush my teeth, the light is set to turn on at 6.01am for me! As I walk into the living room, the light will also turn on because I set it to On a minute later! Now that we have put a sensor in our kitchen, our lights in the kitchen will also turn on without me touching the switch. Awesome!" 

HOME ALONE GYPSIE: On days when we overrun on our family outings that do not allow Gypsie to come along, leaving Gypsie home alone after night falls no longer worry us. Time-based functions turn on certain lights at home for Gypsie when the sun goes down. Oh so much love for this!

5. No Overhaul Current Lighting System 

I was impressed how we need not change our existing light bulbs to smart bulbs to make this work. Ecasa Studio sent in an electrician to change our manual "dik tiak" light switches to these flat, touch sensing and elegant glass panel switches which are looking so clean in our home! 

Our renovation electrician did a bad job wiring our lights when we first got our keys. Some switches were empty and some were wired wrongly. We lived with these faults for the past four years and I was ecstatic when Ecasa Studio could rewire and close up empty switch panels while changing out our manual lights! The electrician was meticulous with his work, making sure the light panels were straight and my wallpapers weren't damaged. When he did not have the necessary tools to cover up certain holes in the wall from the installation, he went out to purchase them and did a perfect job for us.

It definitely changed our lives. 

6. Motion Sensor 

Waking up at midnight to get a drink in the kitchen?

Hands are full carrying dirty dishes to the sink to wash?

Do not worry if you have older folks at home who do not own a Smart Phone to control the lights at home. In some ways, not much changes with smart switches. You’ll still be able to control them from the wall just like you always did.
