Totally missing the carefree nature and spontaneous travels in our lives. Now that COVID-19 robbed us from spur-of-the-moment adventures, even to the nearest family attraction, we were determined to change the scene at home where we spend most of our time at. 

We've always loved the laid-back cafe vibes with good coffee in hand to chill an easy day away. So why not recreate that at home with minimal dust damage since we are living in? 

A mere change of colour to our hair, spectacle frame or nail polish portrays a brand new look in us. So will our home with a new splash of colour! We decided to go bolder with #mmlittle家 and went for yet another unconventional colour a second time round. 

This is Night Reef.

We went from blue to green! 

A very dark green which will only show its true colour in bright daylight.

Coincidentally, we are attracted to cool colours and I reckon the reason so is because it makes us feel calm, relaxed and refreshed. I would say the bolder of us two is Meyer. I would suggest a colour and he would go audacious with the shade! Just like Night Reef, I had wanted to go green but wasn't sure which shade of green to select. My dear husband would say, "Let's go dark." I was not sure how dark would fit well in our humble space and contemplated for days from Nippon's outrageously thick colour fan deck [in a complimentary way].

Then I found out about their brand new Colour Visualiser Mobile App and the rest is history. We decided on our favourite shade of green rather quickly and got down to painting the home!

Did I mention it can pick out colours of our home [by observing a picture] to suggest shades of greens that would match the overall look of our space? So we scanned colours from our new wallpaper and found a few great match for our walls. Awesome much!

All it took was one day's work with two Nippon painters. We weren't inconvenienced much since we chose the Odour-less paints which had minimal fumes fogging the home and we had the bedrooms untouched for us to hide in [play, read, study, watch tv] as they painted our corridor, living, and dining rooms. 

I was glad the covering up of our floors and furniture were done meticulously to prevent paint from dripping on them. They took 90 minutes to cover up and I appreciate the attention to detail, even to the electrical sockets on our walls! 

As we were changing out our wallpaper, we enlisted Nippon Paint to help us prepare the wall for the change. It isn't just as simple tear down and end-of-job. They are also required to check and scrap out the wall from glue. Thereafter, put on a water-based sealant to have the wall ready again for another round of wallpapering. This cost S$350 for my 4.2m wall. It was therapeutic to watch. Yet a little heart-wrenching too because I had attachments to our Island Frond illustrated by Patricia Braune.

As they painted my walls, double-coated it and triple-coated it, I started to regret my decision to have Night Reef on our walls. I literally panicked because it got darker and darker with each coat! Oh gosh it looks like black without the sunlight!

But the colour grew on me and I very quickly agreed this was a good choice when Meyer exclaimed, "This is such a beautiful colour. It's perfect! I love it a lot."

I took the chance to get the painters to help me fix corners and borders of our wall which were either chewed by Gypsie when she was a baby or scratched by us when we moved boxes or vacuumed the floor. I was totally impressed with the cover up! These pictures will do the talking for me.
