GIVEAWAY: Legoland Water Park for Pre-Schoolers

EDIT 23.11.16: Congratulations Sandra Simon! You have won your family Combo Ticket slo Legoland Theme Park and Water Park!

I had been wanting to materialise this visit to the Water Park for the longest time but not without Faye growing up a little more than she is because I needed her to be walking at least! It isn't going to be fun for anyone if she is not comfortable with water play. It is her favourite activity in school now. Fridays are Water Play Days and she looks forward to Fridays like every working adult. YAY! It's TGIF! So now, we are ready for Legoland Water Park.

There are rides and water activities for children of all ages. Of course, parents get to enjoy the thrill of the bigger tubes and slides on higher ground too! The one thing I was very impressed about is the number of lifeguards on duty. They are attentive, friendly and best of all, enjoying their jobs.

"It's Clean, Safe, Fun and Awesome!"

Before sharing the six activities our pre-school kids can play in, here's some tips and tricks I have for you:

Checking into the Hotel for a night's stay?
1. Opening Hours. Although the Water Park is set to open at 1000 hours, they are ready to receive guests every day at 0930 hours. I like to be early everywhere we go to maximise the hours of play before the kids head in for their afternoon naps. So we left home at 0830 hours and got into the park by 1000 hours.
2. Visit The Water Park On Day One. I suggest checking with the Front Desk with your room first thing on arrival even though check-in time is at 1600 hours. You never know if you're lucky right? But even if you aren't, at least you can head back to your room for a shower after the Water Park. Imagine having to check out on Day Two at 1100 hours and to clean up in the public toilet if you hit the Water Park on check-out day. It is so much easier to load sweaty kids from a full day at the Theme Park into the car than wet kids from the Water Park.
3. Borrow Towels From The Hotel's Pool. Request the staff to bring you up to Level 5 where the pool is and loan any number of towels you might need. There are lockers in the male and female toilets as well for you to put your barang barangs if you haven't dropped them off at the concierge for safe-keeping. You know, those important items like passports and money? They are safer kept in the lockers in my opinion. Anyway, more importantly, because lockers and towels are chargeable at the Water Park. Please remember to return the pool's towels to the hotel though.
4. Toddler Swim Diapers Provided. Oh wow! For toddlers below three years of age, RM11 will be charged for the entrance to the Water Park and they will receive two swimming diapers for the day! I love it! Visitors have to purchase it at the ticketing counter. Please do wear the swim diapers for your child to keep the waters clean for everyone's usage.

Going for a Day Trip instead?
2. Bring Your Own Towels. Because towel rentals are chargeable at RM60 per piece [RM30 as deposit] and lockers are available at RM20 [small] & RM40 [large].
4. Book Tickets Early To Save. Take 20% off Combo Tickets [Theme and Water Parks] or Single Park Tickets if you book 7 days in advance. Book here.

There are eight activities suitable for pre-schoolers at the Water Park. There is a lower and upper level. The lower level houses all activities suitable for children of all ages and upper level caters to visitors with a minimum of 1.02m in height.

1. DUPLO® Splash Safari [under 107cm; below 6 years old]
WooHoo! Finally something for the little little ones! Often we read, "minimum 90cm" or "above 3 years old". Then we walk away dejectedly with Faye when she gets sent away. But here, Yahoo! She fits all criteria!

There is a crocodile, polar bear and elephant in the pool with three small slides for the children to go on. Two lifeguards kept this small space safe and lots of floating Duplo® blocks to play with.

2. Joker Soaker [to be accompanied by an adult if below 102cm]
This water playground shouts FUN FUN FUN! Wait at the bottom for a giant splash from the 300-gallon bucket that will soak you senseless! There are many interactive play areas on multiple levels and six fun slides that cater to different ages. Even daddies and mommies are in for a good time here at this playground! Oh you cannot imagine how hard it was for me to get them kids out for lunch.

3. Build-A-Raft [to be accompanied by an adult if below 107cm]
Collect LEGO bricks along the way while you relax on your raft down a lazy river. There is a small current that brings you through a loop which doesn't require riders to paddle. Spot life-size LEGO figures as you float and enjoy a good rest from running after the children on land. Buckle a life jacket for your child if you think it's necessary.

4. Wave Pool [to be accompanied by an adult if below 107cm]
They brought the waves from the sea to the pool! Located on the upper level of the Water Park, visitors get to enjoy a spectacular wave pool that produces gentles surfs. What's even more attractive at this water play area is the screen that plays movies while you soak!

5. Imagination Station
Frankly speaking, I do not find this fun. Hmmm... or maybe I have no idea how this is played. It is actually an interactive and educational station for everyone to build bridges, dams and cities out of Duplo® blocks. A water musical symphony can be created by water squirts. Let me know if you managed to get that out of this play!

6. Build-A-Boat
The boys liked this. Build a boat with LEGO bricks and race it down rapids to see who wins. This Build-a-Boat river is 35 feet long with dam breaks stationed throughout the river for players to
control and change the flow of the water.

Then there are some big slides up there that are meant for the bigger kids and adults. Of course I wanted to go on some and was pleasantly surprised that three water slides were suitable for Ewan with a minimum height of 102cm! We queued for Red Rush [no.8 on the map] first, a family tube slide that sits six people. Our turn came and he was measured. He fell way short of 1.02m and I was absolutely not convinced. Shared with the operator that he measured up nicely to 1.02m from the height chart down at Joker Soaker but was still sent away. He is definitely taller than 100cm when we have him measured at the GPs in Singapore. We were all rather disappointed. I didn't like the inconsistency on that count for sure because he had to give Splash Out [no.7 on the map] and Twin Chasers [no.6 on the map] a miss which require only a height minimum of 102cm.

Taller pre-schoolers can take the rest of the slides at the Water Park with a minimum height of 107cm.  Then again, they can be too frightening [like the closed tubes that are pitch dark] for these junior junior hearts.
