Pokémon X Merry Fishmas at SEA Aquarium
Media Invite
We have been to the SEA Aquarium many times and still, the children never stop asking me to bring them for a visit to meet Mr Jellyfish. Oh no they didn't know that Pikachu will also be there this holiday season! It will be such a big surprise for them!
It costs S$8 [Adult] and S$5 [Child above 4 years old] to walk into the Pokémon Experience which will end on 2nd of January 2017. That is 10 more days before you miss it. In my most honest opinion, I really paid that S$8 just to take photographs with Pikachu. I wasn't quite interested in the The Observation Stations aka Game Stations as much as the children. While they played at the stations close to me [obviously not knowing what they were doing because they are just 2 and 4], I stood in line for our opportunity to meet Pikachu!
Pikachu will be making his appearance at 1130hrs, 1330hrs, 1430hrs, 1630hrs and 1730hrs daily inside the Pokémon Research Exhibition!
Our suggested SEA Aquarium itinerary goes:
1000hrs - Enter SEA Aquarium
1015hrs - Watch Feeding at Shipwreck Habitat [next to Aquarium entrance]
1045hrs - Get Creative at Crafts Corner, Open Ocean Habitat
* engage in some fun at the Sea Protector Activity Stations by learning why certain marine animals are endangered, collect stamps on activity booklet and redeem a gift at the end *
1100hrs - Fishmas Feeding Session with Santa, Coral Garden Habitat
1130hrs - Pokémon Research Exhibition to meet Pikachu
1200hrs - Lunch
1400hrs - Listen to Mrs Santa tell a story at Ocean Dome
How does that sound for kids who need their afternoon naps?
1015 hours: It is beautiful that every time we return, we take back something different. This visit, we witnessed a Sting Ray feeding session which left me smiling from ear to ear. The big grin on its face when it swallowed the fish in whole was really cute! We were chasing this Sting Ray just to watch it feed again and again.
1030 hours: I am not a fan of these Giant Moray Eels. They look ugly, frightful and monstrous to me! I will normally steer the children away from that section but decided to give it a quick peek this time. Crawling through a hole in the wall for a private viewing with the juniors sound like fun. So we stayed in that cave for a quite a bit witnessed this eel opening its mouth really wide! "Oh No!" exclaimed worried kids, "The eel is waiting for the fish to enter its mouth and it's going to eat it!"
Little did they know [and a lot they learnt], that Moray Eels have Maids to clean their teeth! It is an interesting relationship between the two as we saw who these fish were invited into the eel's mouth without risk. The parasite provide the fish with nutrition while the eels are happy to have their teeth brushed.
On-Going: Ewan and Faye picked up an activity booklet each where they were headed to pledge as Sea Protectors! All they had to do was visit three stations, complete the activities laid out for them and receive a stamp. The questions and activities weren't all easy and I had to help them too. But we learnt a lot from the Station Master about preserving the ocean and what we can do to save the sea creatures from extinction! What was the prize at the end of the day? They received snacks and sweets which were great encouragement treats for the little ones.
As we walked, Faye could't stop bugging me to bring her to the Crafts Corner. She enjoys crafting and was looking forward to put something together. When we arrived at the Open Ocean Habitat, she was a tad disappointed that the "Craft" was actually Colouring. Awwwww. We didn't spend much time there since no glue, scissors and painting were involved.
1100 hours: The feeding session at Coral Garden Habitat was not to be missed! With the Christmas thick in the season, the diver was going to come in a Santa suit! The Coral Garden Habitat is a circular tank and we kept running round and round with Santa trying to wave a big Hello to him. They called this the Fishmas Feeding Session.

1400 hours: Mrs Santa comes out to meet children at the Ocean Dome at three timings [1400hrs, 1530hrs and 1600hrs]. Sit or lay around her living room and watch her rock her chair as she tells us a heart-warming story. The serenity and warmth is going to be magical as she guides children on ways to step up on conservation methods.
Fishmas Specials: Adding to the Christmas cheer, there is a Christmas Tree made out of plastic bottles to create awareness about keeping the oceans clean and several viewing tanks decorated with lights to frame the windows.
Towards the end of the Aquarium, you will find a throne where you can sit for photos and pledging your well wishes for the ocean by hanging them on the Christmas trees.
