GIVEAWAY: The Three Billy Goats Gruff

EDIT 7.4.15: Congratulations Kelvin Ong! You have both won yourself a pair of tickets to catch The Three Billy Goats Gruff!

We are on a theatre spree! Two weeks ago, we caught 金发姑娘和三只熊 and today we attended The Three Billy Goats Gruff opening show that will run from now to 10 May 2015. This is SRT The Little Company's third and final instalment of the trio-series featuring music and lyrics by the Laurence Olivier award-winning West-End musical theatre songwriting duo George Stiles and Anthony Drewe. Stiles and Drewe have written five musicals together including Honk! and Mary Poppins. The talented duo directed this season's The Three Billy Goats Gruff not only for their little audiences but mamas and papas as well! We had a rock and rolling good time this morning.

This musical incorporated rap, tap and rock in its storyline. The billy goats (affectionately known as Big, Middle and Baby), opened the show with a tap dance and a happy song! The theatre was full today and the children roared in delight when the goats started trippin' and trappin'. I must say the actors did great captivating their young theatregoers. We laughed and bobbed out of our seats to the music.

A drought befell on their homeland and the goats had no green grass to graze on. Together, the gang made the decision to cross a bridge to the other side of the valley, where lush green grass awaited. Unfortunately, below the bridge lived a [talented singing] troll that feasts on goats! When the troll lunged forward trying to eat his bridge-crossing goat, the theatre was filled with screams from the children! They were totally drawn into the show! We adults sat and laughed at the engagement.

I must commend the troll for playing his role so well. He is ugly. He is frightening. He is also funny. He is everything a troll can be. He danced, sang and entertained really well too. Some children were scared but some were brave enough to not turn away from the dark and fearsome scene. There are also laugh-out-loud moments which everyone enjoyed.

Did the goats outsmart the monstrous, greedy troll in this fight for survival eventually? I can tell you, YES! However, what happened to that green green grass on the other side of the valley? You have to find it out for yourself.

The storyline is especially meaningful - one that tells us to appreciate what we already have.
"Be contended with what you already have. The grass is not always greener on the other side."
