GIVEAWAY: Mothers Unite

EDIT 1.6.15: Congratulations Jamie Chaw! You have both won yourself a Magenta Zinnia Luxe Picnic Basket!

We keep one another sane from rants and laughter. There will always be stories to share about being mothers, being wives, being frustrated and being exhausted. Sometimes, we stay really silent but will always pick up from where we left off as easy as winter shakes leaves off its trees! We call ourselves Mothers Unite.

We are Serene, Sylvia, Iori and May.

I do not know how I ended up in their click because I was the odd one out. They were the glitzy, pretty Marcom girls while I was the salesperson driving numbers with a head of untameable hair. We never shared private conversations when we were colleagues and it's funny how we became a party (so naturally) only after we left the grand old dame. They say "birds of a feather flock together" but our profiles were all dissimilar! So, how did we end up forging a friendship so strong that we've now got our own Mothers Unite Logo? We share one common attribute - we have children.

There are major misconceptions about being mommy. You are more of a mom if you went through a drug-free vaginal birth. You are more of a mom only when you stay at home. You are more of a mom if you breastfed exclusively to your precious bubba. You are more of a mom if you used nappies to Save The Earth. You are more of a mom if...

Really? No.

You having to go through a C-Section, holding a full-time job, bottle-feeding your baby with formula or using disposable diapers DO NOT MAKE YOU LESS OF A MOM! Instead of being divided, stand united! All mothers are beautiful, heroic and strong - no matter how you choose to mother.

Our goal is not to prove to the next mother that we are in any way more superior than them. If we look closely enough, we actually share a common purpose:
"Nothing more than giving our children a chance to a good and purposeful life"
So there we have the four of us, pushing forth towards a common goal and supporting one another with our whatsapp group chats. How many mommy groups have you in your whatsapp? This is new age socialisation for modern moms!

As we have children just months apart from one another, this chat group kept us going on dark breastfeeding days when it proved too difficult with engorgement, mastitis, under-supply and lonely 3am-feed woes. When we finally saw the rainbow at the end of the tunnel (striving babies who finally suckled well), we rejoiced together with confetti and thumbs up emoticons. Play dates then became our excuse to high-tea and picnic get togethers.

Today, we are all mommies of twos (three if you count the daddies). Our group is growing and play dates are getting wilder as the children age.

On our latest outing, we went for a picnic with a lovely basket from Heaven's Bloom. Wouldn't it be nice if someone packed your picnic basket for you so that you can just enjoy a great day out, minus all the hard work? It was heaven sent especially for busy moms like us! We did not have to go super-marketing for drinks or put together a menu for this play date. We simply turned up at Marina Barrage with the Golden Magnolia basket hand-delivered to us, packed with everything we needed for a morning rendezvous! Not only did the basket came with premium vintage cheese and crackers, it included trash bags and mosquito patches as well! I must say the team thought this through with lots of love and care. We even had a mini bottle of Moscato to celebrate motherhood!

To commemorate Mothers, Heaven's Bloom wants to celebrate your Mother's Day with a Magenta Zinnia picnic basket! It is named "Magenta Zinnia" because the flower "Zinnia" means love, goodness and constancy. Aww.. isn't that what mommies are all about? Your special basket will include the bakes from Teaspoon of Love suitable for an evening tea party.

Magenta Zinnia basket includes Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Sable Cookies from Teaspoon of Love, 1 x 6.5" Lemon Loaf from Teaspoon of Love, 2 x Blueberry Muffin from Teaspoon of Love, 1 x 1 litre Apple Juice Drink, Seasonal fruits, 1 x 200ml Moscato, Picnic Cloth Mat, 4 x Ceramic Plates, Knives, Forks, Spoons and Champagne Glasses, 1 x  All in One Opener, 1 x Salt and Pepper shaker, 1 x Trash bag, 20 x Napkins, 1 x Wet Tissue and 8 x Mosquito Patches.

It feeds a family of 4 and the basket is yours to keep! It comes with an insulated cooler compartment to keep your juices and fruits chilled too. You will be sure to have your Magenta Zinnia Luxe Picnic Basket delivered to your picnic venue!

Our Recommendation
We are 3 weeks away from Mother's Day which falls on 10th of May 2015. We celebrated our first Mother's Day with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra at Botanic Gardens in 2013 and I must say it was an enchanting (but sweltering hot) evening. This is an annual Mother's Day Concert and it will be held at Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage (Details Here). Take a charming evening picnic with Tchaikovsky and Strauss with a Magenta Zinnia basket. It's time you start planning for a celebration with your loved ones! Tip: Go early because parking would be a problem!

  2. My mum is the best because she is the Financial Director of the family as she controls the purse strings well to see us through the uni, the head mistress to ensure we are properly groomed and well behaved, the house chef to feed us with her msg-free foods, the chauffeur who drives us to school in rainy days and fetches us back from work in wee hours and most importantly the marketer for the family cos she will buy only the "best" foods from the markets even if it would cost her more time more efforts to look for the freshest groceries from different markets!!

Please pick me cos I really really hope to win it! Thank you!

  5. There's too much to be mentioned on the loved my mother has for me.... In all these great years, her biggest love in my humblest opinion; for being a mother.

Before me and us, she was a woman with big dreams and aspirations, and she gave up bit by bit, taking on the changes in her tiny body, bearing and giving birth to me and my siblings... What's left behind, battle scars from 3 ceceareans and a long journey of being a mother. From, waking up at wee hours for feed, slept in the wee hours to heave a sigh of relief that we are finally back from late night partying and now, a grandmother to my daughter. For all that she has done, and continue to give, this is my mummy.... Her love for me, my siblings, and my child.

  8. Most loving thing that my mother had done for me is she cooked and packed my favorite dishes for me and my lunch buddy weekly. She said that I don’t need to eat alone. My lunch buddy said that love-lunch-pack was always yummy with pleasant surprises.

  9. Due to a break up in my parent's marriage, my mum took 4 of us kids with her and raised us on her single income. She was a housewife before the divorce. We were a low income family but she managed to scrimp and save enough to send me to university. She believed that a girl should be well educated and earn her own keep, and not be subjected to her husbabd's control.

  10. My mother is a very lovable women. My father was in a transferable job and as we were shuttling between new schools every 2-3 years, my mother had been very supportive towards myself and my brother and she would teach us new languages in a very fun and creative way.I wonder if 24 hrs a day would be sufficient for me to finish the tasks that my mother did for me .Now nearing her 60 s she si a lovable grandma to my daughter and in spite of having hand pain from a medical complication, she never misses an opportunity to cook feasts for us whenever we go to her place.Love you amma.

  11. The most loving thing my mum has done was to take up full responsibility to take charge and raise this family when my dad couldn't deal with parenthood. That included taking up part-time studies so that she could excel at work (which she did, becoming the first female manager in her then-company!), still making time to spend weekends with me and charging herself up so positively so that no challenges were too big to knock her down.

  12. My mom is a supermom because of all the things she has done! She is always here to care of me even though I'm married and is already a mother of 2 little ones. She is always busy working or if not helping me with my little ones after her work. Most loving thing she do is no matter how tired she is, she insists on doing marketing early in the morning to get the freshest ingredients to cook simple family dinner for me and my little ones so that we won't have much MSG laded food! The things she done only show me how great a mother's love is! And I hope to follow her footsteps in caring for my little ones or even my little little ones when I'm old like her now. No word can describe how grateful I am that she is my mom!
