Gardens By The Bay: Dahlia Dreams Rooster Year

We are Friends of the Garden for the year! I brought the children on our first visit with our newly minted status on 20th January 2017, the opening day of Dhalia Dreams, and spent some awesome time together admiring sunflowers and dahlias. Since daddy was still in India and we had the car for two more days, why not make this trip after school?

The children were ecstatic to find out that we had the pass and could enter the Flower Dome, Cloud Forest and OCBC Skyway anytime, any day! I didn't think Ewan and Faye would find Gardens By The Bay fun because well, it is neither an amusement park or playground. However, they really do like it. Whenever we drove on the highways and they spotted the majestic Supertrees, they would yell, "Gardens By The Bay Mommy! I want to go!"

A Family Membership, that's what we have, is priced at S$180 for two adults and up to three children. A good deal considering you would have broke even before your third visit. [Join as Friends of the Garden]

Daddy was also very pleased to hear that we get two hours' of free parking as Friends of the Garden whenever we visited. My only gripe is that the complimentary tickets need to be redeemed at the counters. Not only is it troublesome, it is also not environmentally-friendly in my opinion. These tickets are scanned and not retained by the machine. I imagined it would have been better if these tickets can be reused instead of being thrown into a bin. Besides, with the technology of today, wouldn't it be easier that the parking system captures the car's IU number?

Ah that aside, the kids and I were wowed by the six ceremonious lions placed high on the podiums at the entrance of Gardens By The Bay. We literally went, "WOW!"

The Flower Dome was the main attraction and I normally arrive first thing in the mornings to avoid a huge crowd. Oh I must have forgotten how busy it could get at 1400 hours. We still managed to get some shots looking as though it was empty though! But truly, it was packed!

Ending in two week's time on 19th of February 2017, it would be a pity to give this showcase a miss. It was our first time seeing real sunflowers in our faces! The Chinese garden inspiration landscape and pavilions this year, welcomes guests to walk in for photo opportunities unlike the Dahlia Dreams in 2016 where they were barricaded. So that made me a very happy mommy, snapping away with the camera.

Adding to the festive ambiance and bringing an innovative twist to tradition is the projection mapping depicting scenes of Lunar New Year celebrations - a first for the floral displays at Gardens by the Bay!

Do not forget to enjoy their free entry promotion for seniors which will be ending on 12th of February 2017!

While the main attraction lies at the Flower Dome, weekends at Supertree Grove is filled with activities! I highly recommend the RISE OF THE GOLDEN PHOENIX which I brought my family to on Saturday.

Look out for thrilling stunts and performances featuring LED dragons, stilt waters and first-ever LED Phoenix in Singapore!

TIP: Arrive at least 30 minutes or more before show time to grab centre front row view because otherwise, be prepared to sit your kids on your shoulders to watch the show!

Date: 10 to 11 February 2017
Time: 1900 hours
Location: Supertree Grove
