Buying and Selling Luxury Items with Reebonz White Glove

Media Invite

After my mom passed away, I inherited an obscene number of branded bags under my belt. She wasn't a spendthrift and would scrimp and save every cent. I remember spending a thoughtful week planning and searching for that supposed perfect birthday present for her [S$80 for a perfume when I was 15] and she chided me instead of thanking me for my effort. I was fuming!

Then one day [a decade later], as if enlightened that presents should be received graciously and hard-earned money should be used to indulge in herself, she started shopping at Louis Vuitton, Prada and the likes of it. She became a changed woman overnight! I welcome that change because well, I don't totally buy the idea of saving every cent just for retirement [what if you don't get to live to see that day?] or simply will it all to the children [oh gosh... enjoy the fruits of your labour please].

"When somebody buys you a present, however big or small, however useful or useless, it is only basic courtesy you receive it with gratitude"

Especially so when it is a gift from your spouse!

I had seen my mom brushing my dad's efforts away and openly declaring that he should stop buying her clothes because he has bad taste or "Why spend money on flowers? So frivolous!"

女人, women! Please do not do that again. Unless you want to stop these indulgences from your husbands. Receive these impractical presents with open arms and make a big deal out of it! I gave my mom a talk on this.

She took it in and did amazingly well when my dad bought her a Bvlgari bag when he returned from his Italy trip. My mother thanked him and showed her appreciation even though it was not her style.

Today, after 15 years, I brought it out for sale in Reebonz

I had been keeping her bags in my wardrobe for six years now. It takes up a lot of space which could have been more practical if I used it to hang my winter clothes. I use only one bag per year [correction: one bag until it spoils] and believe in less is more. I do not have the habit of matching bags to outfits and so these Pradas, Guccis, Miu Mius and Louis Vuittons are really just white elephants.

It was for sentimental reasons I kept them but practicality is taking precedence. I decided to let them go and put my money towards our new home. That's when I came to know about Reebonz White Glove, a portal which helps you sell your pre-owned designer items.

HOW ARE PRICING DETERMINED?
To price items, they use recent sales of comparable items. They consider their own record of sales as well as online sales or auctions from other sellers. They also consider the retail value of the item. Other factors such as condition, rarity, and current trends are also considered.

WHAT IF MY ITEM DOES NOT SELL?
Most consignment items will sell before the 90-day consignment term ends. However, if the item(s) remain unsold after 90 days, they will contact you to discuss either keeping it available for sale at a reduced price, making a final offer and buying over the item(s) from you or having it returned within 10 business days. No fees will be charged to arrange the return of item(s) to you at the end of the 90-day consignment term. However, Item(s) requested to be returned before the 90-day consignment term will incur a SGD 100 administrative fee.

I vouch for the quality of these pre-owned designer items in Reebonz White Glove. It wasn't only the Bvlgari bag I sent in for assessment but three more Prada bags and a Gucci wallet were in the bulk too. However, everything else got sent back as it did not meet the standards Reebonz White Glove would like to maintain. They were either too old a model or weren't in their best condition for resale.

I chose to consign the Bvlgari bag and we are into our second month now. It is still unsold but I am crossing my fingers that it will!

Quote ‘LiangMay” to receive $50* OFF your next purchase, when you consign and sell with Reebonz.

Terms and Conditions: *$50 OFF will be in the form of a coupon code. No minimum spend is required for the coupon code. It will only be given when the offer for the item(s) has/have been accepted. EDIT [21 Sep 2017] :: I received an email today and it read, "Congratulations! Your item is sold!" Just one week ago, Reebonz informed me that my 90 day consignment was up. I was advised to lower my selling price but I procrastinated for a few days before logging in to get that done.

When I finally did, I could not shift my price and sent in an enquiry to the customer service. They called me and explained that soon after they informed me of it still being left on the shelf with no takers, someone picked it up for a seven day trial!

"Seven day trial?" I asked curiously. Apparently, a buyer is given seven days to "test the bag" out and if they do not return, it is considered sold!

I was crossing my fingers the whole time and Yippee! It is sold!

My success story with Reebonz!
