Pot-A-Flower

I dropped Faye off at the childcare and scooted out on a morning adventure with Ewan. I was looking forward to spending one-on-one time with my first-born especially when he had been taking the backseat ever since his little sister came along. He would willingly walk while I carried Faye during our shopping trips and kick no fuss when I needed him to put himself to sleep while I settled Faye. I am thankful he is sensitive towards his sister's needs and our dates are most precious. He is always in good spirits when we go on such dates.

We attended Poppy Flora Studio and Super Farmers' joint collaboration: Pot-A-Flower. The young ones were given a choice of fabrics to choose from on the crafting table and we were guided through the potting session by Cynthia of Super Farmers. She showed us how it was done and the children, especially mine, were really contented from just painting glue all over their pot. It is good fun isn't it? Playing with sticky gum and paintbrushes? The moms were brought over to the floral arrangement table where we were supposed to pot our kids' creation. We did not expect this but our little ones all climbed up next to us, wanting to play a role in it as well! When Sarah from Poppy Flora Studio announced that it is time moms went to choose their flowers, our children ran ahead of us and chose what they liked instead.

What a parent and child can get out of this two-hour workshop retailing at S$130?
  1. An opportunity to bond
  2. Inculcate mindfulness
  3. Embrace nature
  4. A pot hand-made by your child
  5. A floral masterpiece put together with pride
  6. A photography session of your experience with pictures you can bring home with
This is only suitable for children age 4 and above because scissors and glue are involved, not to mention handling a ceramic pot. We are always looking for holiday camps to drop our children off during the holidays but little out there involve parents. We should also re-think our strategies in keeping our kids occupied this month. Nothing makes them happier than having us spend quality time with them. No prior experience is required to join this workshop and although I felt a bit lost while flower arranging my pot, it turned out rather pretty! That's after Sarah from Poppy Flora Studio came to our rescue by adding a little foliage here and a little bud there.

There are three sessions [11am to 1pm] available for registration:
  • Friday, 24th June 2016
  • Saturday, 25th June 2016
  • Sunday, 26th June 2016
We enjoyed the workshop thoroughly especially the photography! I love to collect memories but with our hands all full from crafting, photographing ourselves was impossible. Poppy Flora Studio and Super Farmers are looking to drive parental engagement in this Pot-A-Flower project and is including an on-site photographer to capture this precious bond between parent and child. The most thoughtful inclusion in any workshops I've seen!

It was a fun morning out with @ripplesim, Delphine [Life In The Wee Hours], Candice [Missus Tay's Journal], Veraday [Life Is In The Small Things] and their children. Gather a group of mommy friends and go for this meaningful workshop! It will make a beautiful playdate I promise. Although the workshop space is in the outskirts of Singapore, the colonial black-and-white buildings will make up for everything when you receive your photographs from them. Did I mention, there is a cafe you can chill over lunch too? Check out Birdcage Bistro!

    1. Heard from Sarah there's no take-ups yet unlike the Christmas Wreath workshop. That might mean lesser opportunities for parent and child workshop!! Sobs
