Ho-Ho-Holidaying with Bellamy's Organic!

Needless to say, Bellamy's Organic is our choice of milk in this household and the reason why I rejected all other brands of formula milk that were eager to collaborate with us. I had to stay loyal and honest to Bellamy's Organic for A Million Little Echoes to be credible about our recommendations don't we?

Condensed into one paragraph, I'd like to share Ewan's milk supplement journey through his toddler-hood which I felt is pivotal to how Bellamy's Organic was chosen to eventually join our family. My three year old was breastfed exclusively for 13 months and the day I decided to turn to formula milk, I chose Nestlé Nan. With extensive research made, comparing every single brand in the market, Nan stood out as the best choice for my son. Even after he outgrew Nan Gro 3, I kept him on it the for the entire year when he helmed the Terrible Two title. Nestlé Nan recommends Nan Kid 4 once our child turns two but again, with exploration and examination of its formula make-up, I decided not to transit him. The husband urged me to look into another formula milk brand since I've decided that Nan Kid 4 is not suitable for Ewan. After intensive investigations, I narrowed down my choices between Friso and Bellamy's Organic. Well, of course we tried both brands for a couple of months before I gave Bellamy's Organic a dedicated shelf in my kitchen [a shelf is an understatement really].

Why I chose Bellamy's Organic?
  • A natural product that hasn't been produced with harmful chemicals
  • Organic farming promotes reduced greenhouse gas emissions by eliminating synthetic nitrogen fertilisers, providing both economic and environmental benefits
  • They use Certified Organic Palm Oil that are not derived from farming practices that reduce rain forests or harm the habitat of orang utans
  • Remnants of formula on the table top never attracted ants unlike other brands
  • Made from certified organic cow's milk
  • Contains added iron and 16 other essential vitamins and minerals to support rapid growth
  • Also contains inulin - a natural prebiotic fibre which stimulates good bacteria for a healthy digestive system
  • Their milk tins are fully recyclable and BPA-free, including their plastic lids
Bellamy's Organic is based in Australia and our recent trip to Australia had me jumping with joy [Blog Post: Western Australia for Kids]! Why? Because I know I will have back-up Bellamy's Organic products easily available in the supermarkets should I run out during our trip.

To keep my little jet-setters happy (truth be told, avoid having to carry them for long hours), they get to ride on their own luggage for every trip. Here's them twinning it up with Skoot, packed with little treasures for the plane ride. These cute little Skooter luggage could be yours to keep if you won the contest on their Facebook page!

To many, Family Travels are a daunting task to undertake especially when you have more than one child. Not to mention two really young ones who are still heavily dependent on their parents to be cared for. Their sleeping routines will be compromised because naps will be shortened during a holiday. They will probably eat less wholesome food on the road. There might be more tantrums because they are on unfamiliar grounds but the bond we gained as a family on our travels are solidified with each trip. There are still house rules the children had to follow but they are definitely a lot more relaxed when we are on the road.

On regular days in Singapore, Ewan goes to school for four hours. The children get four hours at max with their dad each day and they spend another 10 hours sleeping in their own bedrooms. Whereas on a holiday, we spend every single moment together - even those sleeping hours because we four will share a bed! The Holiday Sleeping Positions - Pillow, Faye, Mommy, Ewan, Daddy. Imagine that! The pillow next to Faye is to prevent her from falling off the bed as you had guessed. I noticed the children slept deeper on holidays. I believe it didn't occur just because they were tired out from a full day's itinerary but also due to the co-sleeping treat. Who wouldn't when mommy and daddy are right next to them? Oh the comfort and security...

  1. Hello! What a lovely family you are! First of all, I would like to thank you for sharing your experience. I am now considering changing to Bellamys but I am still collecting information about the brand. We are currently buying HiPP. Since we had our baby a year ago when my husband was still an expatriate in Germany (my home country), we had a different range of products to choose from. We decided to go for the brand Hipp since the product is organic. We moved back to Chicago 4 months ago and we find it very difficult to buy good products here. Luckily, we found this website called www.myorganicformula.com from which we've ordered the same HiPP product we used in Germany and which we know our baby loves. It works okay for now but I am collecting impressions of other brands in case we need to transit to another stage or formula.

    Best wishes,
    Linda
