Capella Singapore - Villa Living for PawFamilies
With the addition of Gypsie in our family, there really aren't many hotels in Singapore that can accommodate us as a whole Furry unit. Capella Singapore is our second home all these years and we are thrilled that they welcome pets on property!
Gypety was only three months old when we brought her on her first paw-cation at Capella. She was running the whole place down just like Ewan and Faye!
Marking our family's seventh and eighth stay with Capella and this time with Gypsie in tow, the hotel continues to surprise us with their little touches of WELCOME HOME in our villas. On Gypsie's First Birthday, they even upgraded her floor cushion of a bed to a throne! Oh gosh the goodies she received. We opened the door to so many doorbell surprises that day - cakes, treats, toys! Not only for Gypsie but for one and all at home.
Note: Only Garden Villa bookings welcome canines. All other pets like cats, birds, hamsters, rabbits can reside in their rooms and suites.
A WARM WELCOME
September 2020 [Ewan 8 years old . Faye 6 years old . Gypsie 3 months old]
We were really happy to be back. Best of all, not leaving anyone behind. While we were being roomed in, Ewan and Faye exclaimed in excitement, "Mommy! Mommy look! Our photographs are all around the house!" They proceeded to pull me to every corner of our living room and bedroom where I marvelled in delight at photographs we've taken all these years in Capella Singapore.
There were photographs from my 31st Birthday in 2013, Babymoons, from our staycations when Ewan and Faye were babies all the way up till our last stay. It brought back so much wonderful memories. Especially the memories when I was big and balloony with my babies in me, craving for their Butter Chicken Naan from the in-room dining menu.
June 2021 [Ewan 9 years old . Faye 7 years old . Gypsie 1 year old]
Nine months later, we returned to Capella again for Gypsie's First Birthday. We will jump at any reason to return to Capella for our customary 4D3N escapade. There really isn't anywhere to go that would make us feel this comfortable and so at home.
This time, Faye shouted, "Look! Photographs of us with Gypsie!"
My heart burst with joy. This time, they found pictures of our family photoshoot we did in September 2020 AT Capella and had them framed next to our bedside [Read: And, We Make Five]!
PET AMENITIES
As it was Gypsie's birthday, she received a basket choke-full of presents and treats. Faye cleverly pointed out, "I think they made towel Pandas because they know we call Gypsie 熊猫."
Wow Capella! If that was really true, you guys are attentioning-to-detail down to the most minute attribute of Gyps's life.
To Gypsie, the treats and toys are priceless.
To Mommy, that hand-written note and hand-delivered birthday basket were priceless.
Gypsie has grown a lot bigger than when she was at three months old. I'm sure the reason why her bed is now a throne is because Capella has upgraded all their pet beds to one that matches the interior design of the villas. However, I'll take it that they've noticed the growth and upgraded Gyps' bed for her.
Now look at that beauty that she's lounging on! That is her bed!
A stark difference when she was just a puppy on her first stay in 2020.
I'm just glad I didn't "steal" that embroidered name tag from our last stay *haha* They must have kept it in a Pet file in Housekeeping and brought it out to use again for our current stay.
Gypsie received a birthday cake upon arrival together with Ewan and Faye's usual Welcome Cookies and M&Ms. Personally, as someone who is loyal and love routines, this repetitive gesture of Cookies with the children's names written in chocolate is something very dear to us. My kids have been receiving the same cookie setup from 3 months old till now. Should one day this be changed to something fancier, I think we will all not be accustomed to it. Some traditions should be kept and never be changed.
PRIVATE PLUNGE POOL
The biggest reason for us choosing Capella over other staycation hotspots is our privilege to dip in our private plunge pool.
Especially during this period where COVID-19 is lurking in our backyards.
I am not comfortable sharing a pool with strangers even if the numbers are capped.
Sunbathing in private.
Clinking champagne flutes in private.
Water-playing in private. 24-hours; without restrictions.
There are more plus-es than minus-es to this equation.
The door bell rang and as a gesture of "I noticed you have kids but they don't have anything to play with in your pool" came in the form of a pink Donut topped with confetti sprinkles!
IN-VILLA DINING
We dined in our villa for every meal.
Heightened Alert [Phase 2] or not, Gypsie isn't allowed in any F&B outlets in the hotel and we did not want to leave her behind even though she is able to.
Will we leave a stench in the villa if we ate in? We are fortunate to have this sizeable outdoor space to dine in, swim, lounge and chill all at the same time.
Most of the time we ate in the comfort of air-conditioning. We were impressed by the in-room dining team who called us an hour after every meal's been served just to check, "How's the food? Would you like us to clear?"
They were quick to reset our living space back to its original state.
THE GROUNDS
It is the perfect hotel to bring our dogs for walks.
Green Pastures.
Quiet Pathways.
Secret Passages.
Quick access to Palawan Beach.
THE VILLA
This write-up should be accompanied by an old post I wrote in 2016 [Read: Capella Singapore - Villa Living for Kids]. There I have pictures of The Knolls, Library, Swimming Pools and the floor plan of Capella's Garden Villa and photographs of every single chamber: Living, Bedroom, Indoor Bathroom, Outdoor Bath and Shower, Plunge Pool and Outdoor Loungers.
Having the most relaxing time of our lives in Capella's 133sqm One-Bedroom Garden Villa. We were probably the noisiest family on the stretch, disrupting the peace, when the children hit the plunge pool several times each day.
We usually book our stays at Capella over low-house [unpopular dates] to avoid sharing this quiet sanctuary with the crowd and to have undivided attention from the service staff. Truth be told, rates are lower too.
For every holiday or staycation, we typically go for a minimum of four days. Anything lesser feels unsettled. It's like how our minds and bodies are just starting to slow down and it's back to the daily grind again. This was a much needed pause.
On our second night, an air of melancholy surrounded Ewan.
"We only have one more night to go. I really don't want to go home. Can we extend our stay?"
