GIVEAWAY KidsFest 2016: Snow Child by Emma Reeves

I am as excited as a rocket ship blasting off when I found out that we will be involved in 2016's KidsFest! It is a three-week theatre festival for the whole family with six different productions over a month at SOTA Drama Theatre and IT HAS STARTED!

KidsFest's shows are adapted from well-known children's books and brought to live on stage by talented international casts. They include not only a fun theatrical experience for our children, the whole family gets to meet the casts in a special meet and greet session at selected show dates and times. What I like about the venue where the KidsFest will be held is its intimate space over two tiers of seating in a compact horseshoe arrangement. Unlike other theatres, every row of seats is elevated. No matter which seat you bought, stall or circle, you are guaranteed a clear unobstructed view of the stage.
We had Seats K1 and K2 the last time we visited and although it may look far (see floor plan) from the stage, it really was a good distance. We were still drawn to the mesmerising vocals of the casts from where we sat. Well of course since the Stall section sells the Cat 1 tickets regardless of its row, I'd recommend Row F for a truly engaging experience (see floor plan)!
KidsFest is presenting Singapore with so many good storybooks-turned-musical this year, it'll be so hard to just choose one for the family. You will be stoked to hear that if you purchase tickets for two shows, you will be entitled to 10% discount (or 15% for three shows and above).
Each production runs only for three to four days with certain dates and time slots already sold out. You will be treated to 55 minutes of imagination and literature without intervals. Although a ticket is still required for every patron (even infants in arms) and highly recommend for children aged three and above, I will still be bringing my 19-month old. She had proved herself a good audience when she sat through her first children's musical at four months of age.
We will be treated to Emma Reeve's Snow Child this February! Emma Reeves is an acclaimed playwright and television writer. Snow Child is her latest play which has been touring in UK since October 2015! Aren't we a lucky bunch to receive them here in Asia (Singapore and Hong Kong)?
Snow Child is about a couple who desperately wants a child but cannot have one. Oh gosh.. my heart aches already thinking back on when we had to go through that period of longing. They build a child out of snow and she comes to life. The snow child is literally the spirit of the snow, a daughter of nature and yet, something draws her to this couple. The three of them embark on a journey of becoming a family but discovered that it is not as easy as they hoped it would be.
Reeves shared her love on children's theatre in an interview with Children's Theatre Reviews. She love the imagination that goes into it - from performers and creative team, but also from the audience. Her aim is to create a magical experience for a young child which will stay with them for years.
Here is a sneak peek on what you will be expecting from the Snow Child come February! Give the KidsFest schedule a study and decide which shows to plonk into your child's creative calendar! There will only be five shows for the Snow Child. Have a snowy good time at the theatres!
